About Us

Northway Aviation Ltd. began in 1962 and continues to be owned and operated by the Johnson family. Three generations of the Johnsons have been involved in aviation in Manitoba for over 45 years. We have been providing passenger and cargo service to the same communities through these years, serving generations of First Nations people and the people who provide services within their communities.

In our early years Northway operated out of Arnes (wheels and skis) and Willow Island (floats). Eventually the float base was moved to the Icelandic River in Riverton and remained there for two decades. Scheduled service began out of Winnipeg in the 80's and in the 90's we relocated operations to St. Andrews and Pine Dock. Northway now operates solely from the St. Andrews Airport providing both wheel and float service with our fleet on wheels and amphibious floats.
